Wilbraham Spencer Tollemache was born on 3 October 1807.〔 (Citing: 〕 He was the younger son of Admiral John Richard Delap Halliday (who assumed the surname and arms of Tollemache in 1821) and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Stratford. His eldest brother was John Tollemache.
